Last Friday, QTEM students in Porto were introduced to the Microdata Research Laboratory - BPLim, a research structure of the Economic and Research Department of Banco de Portugal, in Porto. The main responsibility of BPlim is the creation and management of micro datasets for the use of internal and externals researchers. Access to data is provided through Banco de Portugal computers', assuring data confidentiality. BPlim also provides scientific and computational support to researchers and as well as regular training on statistical software and micro econometric techniques. The ultimate goal of BPlim is to enhance the production of research projects and studies about the Portuguese economy. QTEM students were hosted by Professor Paulo Guimarães, head of BPLim. The presentation highlighted the importance of developing analytical skills for research. It was also a moment for networking between current and future QTEM students and the BPLim researchers.
