Apresentação Pessoal

Full Professor of Finance in the Management Department and member of the CEF.UP research center at the School of Economics and Management, University of Porto.

He holds a PhD in Business Administration with a specialization in Corporate Finance (2006), an Habilitation in Business Administration (2017), and a Master’s in Business Management (2000) from the University of Minho. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics from the School of Economics and Management, University of Porto (1994).

His current research focuses on the Real Options Theory and its application to Corporate Finance. He has published over twenty peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Energy Economics, Finance Research Letters, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Business Research, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Derivatives, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Quantitative Finance, and Review of Derivatives Research.

He teaches courses in Corporate Finance, Derivatives, and Real Options. He has also served as a guest lecturer at the University of Milan - Bicocca and the University of Rome - Tor Vergata. He has supervised over 30 master’s final works and one doctoral dissertation. Additionally, he has taught various executive education courses at the University of Minho and Porto Business School.

He has contributed to several consulting projects, including serving as responsible for the financial analysis for the Independent Technical Committee established to assess strategic options for expanding the airport capacity of the Lisbon region.

From 2011 to 2020, he served as Vice President of the School of Economics and Management at the University of Minho, and from April 2013 to December 2020, he held the position of President of the Pedagogical Council of the same school. He also served as Deputy Director of the Department of management and Secretary of the Center for Management Studies.
