Master in Management

Programme Director
The Master Degree in Management at FEP, University of Porto, is a 24-month fulltime programme, the objectives of which are clear from its solid but diversified curriculum, its emphasis on practical and applied knowledge, and its major concern with regard to participants’ personal and social development.

Students can ready themselves for a career at a global level, by pursuing an internship, by undertaking part of their studies abroad, or by networking with colleagues from all over the world and attending seminars with top international speakers organized by FEP’s research centres. The programme offers and encourages students to take advantage of the several international opportunities available: the "dual degree" agreements with Kedge Business School and with FEA - University of São Paulo, the QTEM Network and the exchange protocols established between the University of Porto and other well-known universities abroad. The contribution of international students is crucial, something that was evident in the programme’s previous editions. The International Student Office provides assistance to international students during their stay.

Finally, the University of Porto, one of the largest and top ranked universities in Portugal, and Porto, a vibrant city full of history, which has a striving social and cultural life, provide a wonderful environment for the pursuit of your studies. We look forward to welcoming the new MiM students.

The Master Programme in Management at FEP aims to provide students with solid background knowledge in key management functions (financial, strategic, sales, operations and people), plus a more developed knowledge of one or several specialized areas.

Theoretical depth is pursued, but the emphasis is on the use of concepts in real life situations. The programme seeks to adapt to each participant’s life project, by allowing specialization and by providing options that fit different career profiles – e.g. business manager, entrepreneur or academic.

Finally, the development of participants’ social skills at several levels is an important aim of the programme. All of these objectives are subsumed within the programme’s core objectives: i.e. employability and internationalization, or, in other words, the preparation of students for a successful career in business management in a global setting.

Candidates should possess a 3-year bachelor’s degree in management, economics, or a similar subject and be proficient in English, the language in which the master course is taught. The programme is essentially targeted at recently graduated students with little or no professional experience. FEP, University of Porto, has made a "double degree agreement” with Kedge Business School – Marseille/Bordeaux, France. Selected participants will attend one term of studies in France and will be required to complete a series of requirements involving 120 ECTS for the award of the double degree. Applications by mid August.

QTEM - Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management

Students doing this master can apply to the QTEM Network Master. It will allow the student to take the master at FEP and at the same time take a specialization in Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management. Students doing QTEM can spend 2 semesters abroad in the prestigious member universities of the network. They must also do an internship. More informations here

André Lima

"The emerging attraction of the Master in Management of FEP is easily explained by the bridge that is being constructed with the job market. The Master provided me opportunities for enhancing my skills, achieving a Double Degree with another remarkable school and developing projects so as to create the conditions for a successful international career. Add value to everything you do."André Lima, Tax Consultant at KPMG.

Rens Meerman

"I had a choice between three cities in which to study: London, Berlin and Porto. My final choice was Porto because of the hospitable spirit of the city and the quality of the university. FEP is one of the best universities in Portugal and my choice has, so far, not disappointed me. The courses provide the skills demanded by the job market and the professors are all experts in their fields. While the Master in Management does not provide a single area specialization, it does teach a multitude of things that will all be useful in our future careers. Overall, my expectations have been far exceeded." Rens Meerman, Netherlands | Bachelor in Finance and Control | Saxion Hogeschool
