Communication Networks

UPDigital will discontinue the TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 communication protocols in its network services (Eduroam and VPN).
These protocols (TLS 1.0 that has existed since 1999 and TLS 1.1 that has existed since 2006) were advised against being used in 2018, with Apple, Google, Microsoft and Mozilla announcing their abandonment in 2020, due to the need to move to more secure protocols.
These communication protocols will no longer be supported by our services as of March 31, 2023.
Therefore, equipment that does not support the latest protocols, TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3, should be updated.

FEP provides a VPN service (Virtual Private Network), through which any computer connected to the Internet may access the various services offered on FEP’s internal network.
