Objectives
The Seminars course aims to provide contributions from various areas of Economics and Management through the participation of leading professionalst in three main areas: business sector; academia; and institutional area. This course aims to provide students with practical and applied knowledge in the fields of International Economics and Management and in related areas. It also aims to provide a range of information derived from practical cases that prove useful in the Master's study area.
Learning outcomes and competences
Learning outcomes:
- apply concepts and tools related to Internationalization and similar topics;
- integrate knowledge acquired in various MEGI courses;
- critically analyze internationalization cases and evaluate different strategic options;
- identify specific challenges in various markets relevant to the internationalization of portuguese companies.
Skills:
- preparation of summary reports on specific case studies;
- presentation of work in public;
- public debate.

The seminars are programmed to receive contributions from three different areas - companies, public and private institutions, and academia. The seminars are delivered by speakers with various backgrounds and different professional experiences, including: company directors; heads of public or private institutions whose activities directly or indirectly affect the context in which companies operate; and researchers in the core areas of the master's degree.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Presentation of practical/real cases with discussion. Seminars require student attendance and participation. In addition to the presentation time, all sessions necessarily include a discussion/debate period, in which informed participation by all students is expected. Ideally, this space should allow for confrontation between the theoretical references acquired and the experiences reported by the speakers.
The semester will have several sessions with guest speakers and others with student discussion and presentations, according to the program to be announced.
The assessment consists of the following:
1) in-depth written assignment on a theme/topic covered in one of the seminars;
2) written assignment with a brief summary/critical analysis of four seminars;
3) oral presentation of the assignment mentioned in 1);
4) active participation in seminars and presentations.

Eligibility for exams
Students should attend at least 10 seminars.
Calculation formula of final grade
Final grade = 0.50 x in-depth written assignment + 0.20 x summary/crirical analysis of 4 seminars + 0.15 x oral presentation of assignment + 0.15 x participation
Observations
In this course there is no final exam evaluation.
