Objectives
• Acquire practical and applied knowledge in International Business, through the participation of experts from three areas: corporate, academia and institutions
• Supplement knowledge gathered in other subjects of the Masters, supporting the integration of such knowledge through real cases: notably, of foreign multinationals operating in Portugal, of internationalized Portuguese firms, and of the experiences of other economies
Learning outcomes and competences
Learning outcomes:
• Use the knowledge acquired to understand the internationalization processes of distinct firms
• Distinguish various internationalization strategies, and evaluate them, identifying the advantages and drawbacks of each option
• Analyze critically internationalization cases
• Develop consulting capabilities in International Business, through analysis of real cases, and of different methodologies

The Seminars are programmed to receive contributions from three different areas - companies, public and private institutions and academic research - all of which are related to the internationalization of the Portuguese economy and Portuguese companies. The Seminars are attended by speakers from various backgrounds and with different professional experiences, namely: directors of companies that do business in international markets and are a reference in the Portuguese economy; directors of public or private institutions whose activities directly or indirectly affect the context in which companies do their international business; and academics who carry out research on the topics mentioned.

Teaching methods and learning activities
Presentation and discussion of real case studies.
Each seminar has theoretical and practical content and a specific theme.
Seminars demand participation of students. Every session has presentation and debate. Each session will
contrast theoretical references acquired in the Masters and the experiences shared by speakers.
The semester will include several sessions with invited speakers, and sessions of presentation/discussion of the
students’ work.

Students should attend at least 10 seminars.
Calculation formula of final grade
Final grade = 0,70 x written report + 0,15 x oral presentation + 0,15 x active participation
