Objectives

As goods and services are produced and distributed, they move through a set of interrelated operation and processes. The design of these operations for gaining a strategic advantage, investments in improving their efficacy, and controlling these operations to meet performance objectives is the domain of Operations and Supply Chain Management. This course leads students to practical and conceptual aspects of operations and supply chain management. Students will gain a strong understanding of logistics management and supply chain planning methods. Case studies and examples will be employed throughout the course to promote discussion and support the application of logistics concepts to real-life issues.

Learning outcomes and competences

At the end of the course each student is supposed to handle, discuss and apply the basic concepts of operations and supply chain management analysis.

Eligibility for exams

Assessment regime without final exam with the components:
(1) team work with a weight of 30% of the final grade (15% for the report, 15% for the presentation)

(2) final test with a weight of 60% of the final grade to take place in the end of the course (but during the semester)

(3) cases' discussion and participation in classes with a weight of 10% of the final grade

Calculation formula of final grade

Assessment regime without final exam with the components:
(1) team work with a weight of 30% of the final grade (15% for the report, 15% for the presentation),

(2) final test with a weight of 60% of the final grade to take place in the end of the course (but during the semester),

(3) cases' discussion and participation in classes with a weight of 10% of the final grade.

Final test is open notes (laptops, i-pads/i-phones, mobile phones or similar communication devices are not allowed). Students should bring their calculators.

Students may do the final test in the day of the "Época de recurso" exam, but only for improvement purposes or if the student did not take it during semester with a  well-founded reason (agreed with the teacher).

Special assessment (TE, DA, ...)

In accordance with FEP's evaluation regulations.

Classification improvement

Only the weight corresponding to the Final test and in the day of the "Época de recurso" exam.
