Objectives:

  • Provide an introduction to supply chain management, and its multiple areas / fields.

  • Describe the transportation problem, as well as a method for solving this problem.

  • Describe the traveling salesman problem, as well as various simple methods for solving this problem.

Learning outcomes and competences

After completing this course unit, the student should be able to:

  • Formulate a given scenario as a transportation problem.

  • Solve a transportation problem by applying the software used in the course unit.

  • Gather and interpret relevant data / information from the outputs provided by the software used in the course unit to solve the transportation problem.

  • Formulate a given scenario as a traveling salesman problem.

  • Solve a traveling salesman problem, by applying the software used in the course unit, or by using other lectured methods.

  • Gather and interpret relevant data / information from the outputs provided by the software used in the course unit to solve the traveling salesman problem.
