Objectives



The aim of this course is to guide students in developing a research project that afterwards can be developed into a master's thesis or internship report.


Learning outcomes and competences

Students learn how to draft a thesis or internship report, and develop their research and writing skills on issues related to the economics or management of healthcare.

Teaching methods and learning activities

The course includes two types of activities:

  1. Lectures (joint with other FEP Masters programs) about topics relevant to the research process: Stages of the research process; Scientific writing; Bibliometrics.
  2. Tutorial guidance, by the thesis supervisor and the course teacher, regarding the development of a thesis or internship report.

Eligibility for exams

1. Report with the definition of the topic and the indication of the thesis supervisor, to be submitted until November 11th;
2. Dissertation / Internship Plan, to be submitted until December 29; and
3. Oral presentation and discussion of the Dissertation / Internship Plan, to be held on January 2th or 5th.

Calculation formula of final grade

Weighted average of the classification of three assessment moments:
1. Report with the definition of the topic and the indication of the thesis supervisor: weight 10%;
2. Dissertation / Internship Plan: weight 60%; and
3. Oral presentation and discussion of the Dissertation / Internship Plan: weight 30%.
