Objectives

-  Examine the contribution of an adequate management of people to the staff individual well-being, the organisational efficiency, and the quality of care.

- Develop the skills and abilities to assess and discuss management problems by applying the relevant concepts and theoretical frameworks of HRM.

Learning outcomes and competences

- Interpret the concept of human resource management, its strategic dimension and compare and assess the contributions, implications and limitations of the different models and perspectives on the management of people in the particular context of healthcare organisations.

- Demonstrate critical understanding of people's behavior and performance in health context organizations by mobilizing some explanatory theoretical models.

- Demonstrate  theoretical and practical analysis in the field of people management.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Combination between the expositon method and the active teaching-learning method. Classes based on dialogic exposition, critical analysis of texts, discussion of practical cases illustrative of concrete situations.
Students should prepare themselves from the recommended bibliography and another independently-researched (preferably later validated by the teacher) to discuss the topics, and apply some of this knowledge in the analysis of real or fictitious cases (organizations and / or people in the context of job).
In addition to the classes, electronic mail will be a fundamental means of communication.

Calculation formula of final grade

Final grade = written test (50%) + assignment (50%) + participation (5%)

Minimum grade in each component: 7.0/20.

Alternatively students can take the course by final exam

Classification improvement

The improvement of the final grade takes place at the time of appeal. Only the classification of the test can be improved.
