Calculation formula of final grade

In this course, evaluation via final exam only is not available, either in the regular examination period, or in the reassessment examination period. This is due to the course's characteristics and desired learning competences. Indeed, project management software will often be used in the lectures, and operational knowledge and mastery of the software is one of the skills students are meant to obtain in this course. Another learning outcome involves the ability to create a project plan. Finally, team work is a very important factor for the success of a project.

The desired learning competences could not be achieved if evaluation consisted only in a final exam. Therefore, in order to achieve the desired learning competences, it is essential that the evaluation includes group assignments. Thus, in order to pass the course, either in the regular examination period, or in the reassessment examination period, the student is required to do, throughout the semester, a set of group assignments.

Regular Examination Period and Reassessment Examination Period

  • A set of group assignments (all assignments will have the same weight), to be done throughout the semester. This set of group assignments has a weight of 2/3 in the final grade.

  • A final test. This test has a weight of 1/3 in the final grade.

All assignments and the test are required to pass the course. Therefore, a student cannot pass the course if she / he fails to do the test, or any of the assignments.

There is a minimum score of 6 in the final test, as well as on each assignment. Therefore, if a student scores lower than 6 on the test, or on any of the assignments, she / he will fail the course, regardless of the overall weighted score.

The procedure to follow in order to establish the composition of the groups (for the assignments) will be described when the classes start, both by email and in the sessions themselves.

Classification improvement

The grades of the assignments cannot be improved.

The grade obtained in a regular examination period test can be improved in the immediatly subsequent reassessment examination period.
