The aim of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to perform audits of environmental management systems against NP EN ISO 14001:2012, in accordance with NP EN ISO 19011:2012, in order to accomplish with environmental targets and sustainability. Furthermore, interpretation of EMAS-EcoMangement and Audit Scheme, the European Regulation (EC) No 1221/2009 of 25 November will be performed.
On successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Understanding how organizations deal in their interface with the environment and how these relationships can be improved with the support of environmental management in order to safeguarding the environment and human health.
- Differentiating between the various types of auditing.
- Interpreting the benchmarks of Environmental Management System, including the standards of the certification process, Environment (NP EN ISO 14 001); EMAS-EcoMangement and Audit Scheme, the European Regulation (EC) No 1221/2009 of 25 November.
- Auditing an environmental management system according to NP EN ISO 14001 using the guidelines of NP EN ISO 19011-2012.
- Arguing about scenarios of environmental audits.
- Drawing an audit report and evaluating the audit findings.

6- Simulation of an audit
The course will be centered in a blended learning based on theoretical and practical classes in order to train students to develop the knowledge necessary to meet the requirements of the program. Students work individually and in teams in order to be rated the learning level of each student, who must demonstrate acceptable levels of performance. Students will be provided with information concerning the general guidelines for auditing management systems (EN ISO 19011:2012); guidelines of an environmental survey; way it defines and shapes an EMS (Environmental Management System ); requirements of ISO 14001 (EN ISO 14001:2012) and EMAS registration; simulation of an environmental audit; classes will be interactive, focusing on students learning and the sharing of experiences and knowledge.
