Objectives
The course aims to introduce students to several methods of data analysis used in economics, putting a special emphasis on critical reasoning and economic interpretation.
The course covers topics such as: nature of data and measuring units; analysis of variation in cross-section and time series; definition and use of index numbers; deflation; present and future values; interest rates; annuities and amortization.
Examples and exercises are aimed to stimulate the adoption of rigorous and adjusted analytical procedures to the study of economic and social processes.
