Summary: Problemas lineares e não lineares - em particular problemas matriciais espectrais, resultantes de aproximações de operadores em espaços de dimensão infinita evoluíram notavelmente durante o século passado com a acção combinada e os impulsos da matemática fundamental, modelação matemática e computação científica. Neste trabalho de investigação pretendemos dar um tratamento abrangente a este tema, incluindo algumas contribuições originais no domínio de problemas de valores próprios
