DIOGO LOURENÇO

Topic: “Brief introduction of cef.up”
Diogo Lourenço is Principal Investigator at cef.up. After several years as assistant professor at the University of Porto and Portucalense University, he is currently a full-time researcher whose main areas of interest are the methodology and history of economic thought.

LUÍS GUIMARÃES 

Topic: “Explaining the Labor Share: Automation vs Labor Market Institutions
Luís Guimarães is a Lecturer in Macroeconomics at Queen’s Management School, Queen’s University of Belfast (QUB), and a Researcher at the Center for Economics and Finance at the University of Porto (Cef.UP). Before joining QUB, Luís finished his PhD in Economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto (FEP) in 2015. He was an assistant professor at Universidade Portucalense Infante D. Henrique between 2016 and 2017 and a postdoctoral researcher at FEP in 2018. He also co-founded a firm applying macroeconometric techniques to forecast commodities’ prices. Luís’ research concentrates on the macroeconomic analysis of the labor market. In particular, he studies the implications of business cycles and automation on the unemployment rate, wages, labor share, and inequality. Luís has also studied the implications of economic policy in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the implications of monetary policy in the short and long run.


LIA QUADRO FLORES

Topic: Abilene Paradox - how to be too "other-regarding"
Lia Quadros Flores is a PhD candidate in Economics at the School of Economics and Management, University of Porto (FEP). She holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in Economics from FEP. She spent 2 non-consecutive semesters abroad via the ERASMUS program at the U. Paris Dauphine in her Bachelors and at the U. Libre de Bruxelles in her Masters. She is working on her thesis “Essays in Behavioural Economics” under the supervision of João Correia-da-Silva and Miguel Fonseca, Professor at the University of Exeter Business School (and affiliated to NIPE), where Lia is also a visiting student. She holds a doctoral grant from FCT since 2018. She has graduate teaching experience in Microeconomics (Católica Porto Business School, 2017), Decision-Making (CPBS, 2018&2019), Fundamentals of Marketing and Consumer Behaviour (U.Exeter, 2020) and is currently teaching Microeconomics II at FEP.
