Competition Challenges in the New Digital Economy

Curso | Desafios da Concorrência na Nova Economia Digital
The digital revolution has been transforming our daily lives in particular, as well as the economy in general. This revolution has been led by new market players, the so-called digital platforms (such as, for example, Google, Amazon, Facebook, Uber or Spotify), with innovative, disruptive and flexible business models, which not only they have created new markets and solutions, as well as challenging and transforming competition in existing markets and in which more traditional business models prevailed.
It turns out, however, that, despite the fact that there are several benefits arising from the emergence of new products and services provided by these new digital platforms, there are also new challenges and concerns that both competition authorities and economic regulators and policy makers have been facing due to the way in which this ongoing technological revolution has impacted the competitive dynamics in several relevant markets.
