Objectives

It is intended that students acquire knowledge about the evaluation and psycho-criminological intervention applied on the study of crime victims.

Provide students with the basic concepts and frameworks to fully understand relations between victimization, vulnerability and intervention.

Critically analyze key aspects in their different forms of intervention and processes of victim support.

Understand the specific dynamics and critical reflection on the major trends in relation to victimology from situations and different forms of victimization.

Focus on the key debates and critical approaches in relation to some particular forms of victimization in Portuguese and international context.

Learning outcomes and competences

Acquire a comprehensive and connected view of the key debates and critical approaches in relation to some particular forms of victimization and their relationships and interconnections in Portuguese and international context.
Abilty to fully understand in its complexiity key concepts in victimology like vulnerability  intersectionality and others.
Ability to critically analyze one of the essential aspects of the different forms of intervention and victim support processes.
Reflect critically about the victimological research referred to different forms of victimization discussed in class.

Teaching methods and learning activities

Being a discipline more that looks to deepen and consolidate the contents of Vitimologia I, developing them in a way more directed to the intervention next to crime victims, special of violence, it is privileged, along with the lessons of expositive type, the study and analysis of the methods of intervention in victims, through the debate of practical cases.

Theoretical classes (the description and explanation of contents) combined with tutorial supervision of the exercises to apply knowledge transmitted. Emphasis will be, in the latter, work in small groups focusing on analyzing and discussing scientific papers.

Calculation formula of final grade

Distributed Evaluation: The DE is a written work, carried out by small groups of students on one of the topics proposed by the teachers. The completion of work is required, and the classification obtained in this component considered when determining the final grade in times “normal” examination and “recurso”. The work must be delivered by the stipulated date stipulated (at the end of the university term) and presented in class on the dates combined.

Evaluation Formula: Distributed evaluation: papers and presentation 25%, final exam: 75%.
