The aim of this discipline is to provide the students with the basic frameworks and concepts of the legal system, with special focus on the portuguese one.
It is meant to see Law as a body in motion and not an estatic one, so major relevance is given to the methodological issues.
It is also meant to favour the development of reading.
The objectives ofhis course are articulated with Introdução ao Direito II.
Students are demanded to know and understand the fundamental general questions of Law as a legal order, system and as a science. Students should understand the relation between Law and the other normative orders and social spheres. Students are supposed to understand the main conceptual frames of the portuguese legal system and the fundamental lines of western legal thinking.

Theoretical classes: Exposition of the contents of the discipline, use of case-studies.
Practical classes: The students have to solve practical exercises
