Objectives

Learning objectives of the subject are consistent and integrated with matter Security Issues II , so it must be seen as an integrated program .
Understand the concept of security , its complexity and the debates and critiques around him .
Perceive the workings of worry and apprehension regarding security issues .
Identify the devices safety investigation .
Identify and critically relate the elements of the construction of the security and its relation to violence , fear , power and dominion .
Understand the functioning of the modern state security and the problems derived from the crisis , with particular emphasis on changes due to globalization and new security markets .

Learning outcomes and competences

The students should be able , at the end of the semester , to identify and distinguish the concepts of violence , fear , (public and private ) security , the perception ( reality and feeling) , its legation / relationship and its complexity in modern Western societies and postmodern , reflecting critically on them . Still should be able to understand the dynamic mechanisms of construction of power and control from the safety issues .

Teaching methods and learning activities

Theoretical and practical , combining exposition of the contents with the exercises of application of the knowledge transmitted . Work in small groups focusing on analyzing and discussing scientific papers and other documentary sources previously prepared by each student.
