The program aims to introduce i) the emergency conditions of clinical criminology, theories and concepts, methods, themes and intervention fields; ii) the applications of the clinical method in the criminological praxis and the process and dynamics of the psychological assessment; iii) the different methods and techniques of psychological assessment and its scientific basis; iv) limits and implications of clinical criminology and ethical and deontological issues.
It is expected that students acquire the skills that are necessary to reflect around the core concepts of clinical criminology. We also intend to introduce and train essential clinical skills in assessment and intervention.

Personality: 1. Introduction to the concept and study of personality; 2. Historical introduction; 3. Definitions: personality, process, structure, system, temperament, trait, dimension, type; 4. Methodological approaches on the study of personality: quantitative vs. qualitative; nomothetic vs. ideographic perspectives, 5. Measurement of psychological constructs; criteria for the scientific assessment of personality theories. II- Theoretical perspectives (history and present day status): 1.Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic perspectives; 2. Behaviorism; 3. Socio-Cognitive perspectives; 4. Trait and psychobiological theories. III- Emotions: 1. Definition and function; 2. Theories of Emotion. IV- Morality: 1. Theories for the development of the concepts of justice and care; 2. Broad perspectives on the foundations of Morality (rationalism vs. Intuitionism and socio-intuitionism). V- Personality, Emotion, Social Cognition and Morality: integrated perspective from the standpoint of the Social, Cognitive and Affective Neurosciences.

I- Clinical Criminology: Introduction 1. Definition and object 2. Emergency and crisis II. Concepts and theoretical approaches (psychopathology, phenomenology, humanism) 1. dangerousness and criminal personality 1.1. conceptual framework 1.2. from dangerousness to risk: historical and critical approach III. The clinical method 1. understanding and interpretation 2. process and dynamics of the psychological assessment 3. observation and evaluation models and techniques IV – The clinical interview 1. the psychological assessment in a forensic context 2. clinical approach of special delinquent groups: aggressive and sexual delinquents.
Theoretical classes are used to describe and discuss the main contents of the program. Practical classes are orientated towards the analysis and discussion of scientific literature and other resources previously prepared by the students.
