Abstract (EN):
Introduction: The impact of Parkinson Disease (PD) in patient's sexual health is still a matter of debate. Clinicians should into account about the sexual function of their patients with PD. Aims: To evaluate sexual health of patients with PD. Methods: We randomly select a group of PD patients and a group of healthy controls. We used the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) and the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) to assess sexual function. To evaluate depression and anxiety we used the Brief Symptom Inventory (BSI) and the Beck Depression Index (BDI). Results: We had 83 PD patients and 69 controls. Male patients had lower total IIEF scores than controls (p<0.01). In the analysis of linear regression are predictive factors for IIFE the duration of the disease and the patient's age (Ajusted R square=0.43; p<0.01). The IFSF show significant differences between the cases and the controls in the desire domain (p<0.01). Male patients had higher BSI and BDI scores than controls (p<0.01). Conclusions: Male PD patients had an impairment of sexual function with duration of disease and age. Sexual function should be assessed in these patients. © ArquiMed, 2010.
