Abstract (EN): Licorice extracts have been used in dermatologic formulations mainly due to the health promoting properties of Licochalcone A present in considerable quantities. However, no electroanalytical methodologies have been developed so far aiming its analysis. In this work, licochalcone A was electrochemically analyzed on a hanging mercury drop electrode (HMDE) by square wave voltammetry (SWV). It was extracted from Glycyrrhiza glabra by sonication with acetonitrile and quantified thereafter using the standard additions method to overcome matrix effects. A limit of detection (LOD) of 0.041 mg/L and a RSD of 2% were obtained for licorice extracts.
