Abstract (EN):
The seasonal fluctuation in the zooplankton community of Azibo reservoir (Portugal), was studied from November 1986 till November 1987. Fifty-three species of Protozoa, Rotifera, Copepoda and Cladocera were found. The zooplankton community was numerically dominated by rotifers, which represented 66% of the total. The highest rotifer density was reached in the beginning of spring. It decreased after the cladocerans peaked in May. Copepods had two maxima, one in April and another one in September. Although protozoans rose to high densities during winter (1.07 × 105 ind m-3), their contribution to total biomass was small (2.03%). © 1990 Kluwer Academic Publishers.
