Abstract (EN): Betaine cadmium chloride monohydrate undergoes a phase transition at 241 K. This transition was disclosed by using thermal differential analysis and Raman spectroscopy. This phase transition is clearly related to a structural change where the water molecules lose their degrees of freedom, becoming more tightly bonded, on cooling.
