Abstract (EN):
The main purpose of this work is to evaluate the sensitivity of small span bridges in high speed railway lines to the resonance phenomena bearing in mind the real variability of the parameters that influence the bridge dynamic response. As a case study, the railway bridge of Canelas, located in the Northern line of the Portuguese railway, was selected. Simulation techniques, namely the Monte Carlo and Latin Hypercube methods, were applied as they allow an accurate consideration of the randomness of structural parameters that influence the bridge dynamic response. Furthermore, a safety assessment of the bridge was done based on the results obtained in the simulations in order to define the train speed limit on the bridge.
