Abstract (EN):
Cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes with 1-(2-carbamylethyl)-2-methylimidazole (CMIm) or 1-(2-carbamylethyl)-2-ethylimidazole (CEIm) and halides or pseudo-halides have been synthesized and characterized by magnetic and spectroscopic techniques. Eighteen compounds have been isolated: MX(2)L(2)(M = Co(II) or Ni(II); L = CMIm or CEIm and X = Cl-, Br- or SCN-), CoI(2)L(2) (L = CMIm or CEIm), [Co(CMIm)(4)]I-2.H2O, [Co(NCS)(2)(CMIm)(4)].H2O, Ni(NCS)(2)(CEIm)(4) and Ni(NCS)(2)(CMIm)(3). Cobalt(II) compounds are monomeric and pseudotetrahedral, except [Co(NCS)(2)(CMIm)(4)].H2O that is pseudo-octahedral. Among the nickel(II) complexes, Ni(NCS)(2)(CEIm)(4), NiBr2(CMIm)(2) and NiX(2)(CEIm)(2) (X = Cl- or Br-) are monomeric (and pseudo-tetrahedral except the first that is pseudo-octahedral). The remaining nickel(II) complexes are believed to be polymeric. Weak magnetic interactions may occur in these complexes. The relative order of the ligand field strength (10 Dq) for the ligands in complexes seems to be: CIm greater than or equal to CMIm > CEIm (CIm = 1-(2-carbamylethyl)imidazole).
