Resumo (PT): Este livro contém os resumos dos artigos apresentados no 5º Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica (CNB2013) que decorreu no "Fórum de Arte e Cultura de Espinho" na cidade de Espinho (Portugal), entre os dias 8 e 9 de Fevereiro de 2013. No campo da Biomecânica, o Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica é o mais prestigiado encontro científico periódico organizado em Portugal. Investigadores, alunos e clínicos apresentam e discutem o que de mais proeminente e significativo tem vindo a ser desenvolvido neste campo da ciência. Desde 2005 que o evento é bienalmente realizado, tendo sido denominado por “Encontro 1 Biomecânica” o primeiro congresso organizado em Martinchel na cidade de Abrantes no ano de 2005. O segundo congresso, o “2º Encontro Nacional de Biomecânica 2007” decorreu em Évora em 2007. A terceira edição do evento decorreu na cidade de Bragança em 2009, tendo nessa altura recebido a denominação de “3º Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica 2009”. Em 2011 a cidade de Coimbra acolheu o evento, com o título “4º Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica 2011”. Na presente edição do Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica foram submetidos um total de 179 trabalhos, dos quais 153 foram aceites para apresentações orais, distribuídas por um total de 24 sessões temáticas. Os trabalhos submetidos envolveram autores de 8 países, o que representa um passo importante para a internacionalização do Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica. De salientar também a diversidade dos temas abordados nas contribuições submetidas no âmbito da Biomecânica, incluindo biomecânica dos tecidos, biomecânica ortopédica, biomecânica de reabilitação, biomecânica orofacial, biomecânica do crânio e coluna, biomecânica cardiovascular, biofluidos e hemodinâmica, biomecânica respiratória, biomecânica do sistema músculo-esquelético, biomecânica da lesão/impacto, biomecânica ocupacional, biomecânica desportiva, cirurgia assistida por computador, engenharia dos tecidos, mecanobiologia, biomateriais, biomecânica experimental e biomecânica computacional, o que salienta a multidisciplinaridade desta área do conhecimento. Os organizadores do CNB2013 gostariam de aproveitar esta oportunidade para agradecer a todos os Patrocinadores pelo suporte recebido, a todos os membros do Comité Científico pela cooperação e a todos os autores e participantes por terem submetido e partilhado o seu trabalho. Por último, os organizadores agradecem à Sociedade Portuguesa de Biomecânica pelo privilégio de organizar a presente edição do Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica e por todo o apoio prestado.

Abstract (EN): This book contains the abstracts of the papers presented at the 5th Portuguese Congress on Biomechanics (CNB2013) that was held in "Fórum de Arte e Cultura de Espinho", in Espinho city (Portugal), between 8th and 9th, February of 2013. The Portuguese Congress on Biomechanics is the leading meeting organized in Portugal related with the Biomechanics field and where researchers, students and clinicians present and discuss the preeminent work developed in Portugal in this area. The event has been organized every two years since 2005: the first event, called “Encontro 1 biomecânica”, was held in Martinchel, Abrantes, in 2005; the second, called “2º Encontro Nacional de Biomecânica 2007”, was organized in Évora, in 2007; the third, with the designation of “3º Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica 2009”, occurred in Bragança, in 2009; the fourth was organized in Coimbra in 2011, with the title “4º Congresso Nacional de Biomecânica 2011”. CNB2013 had 179 works submitted, from which 153 were accepted for oral presentations distributed by 24 sessions. The submissions involved authors from 8 countries, which represents an important step for the internationalization of The Portuguese Congress on Biomechanics. On the other hand, the received contributions address several topics related to Biomechanics, including tissue biomechanics, orthopedic biomechanics, rehabilitation biomechanics, oral-facial biomechanics, biomechanics of the spine and skull, cardiovascular and hemodynamic bio-fluids, respiratory biomechanics, biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system, biomechanics of injury/impact, occupational biomechanics, sports biomechanics, computer assisted surgery, tissue engineering, mechanobiology, biomaterials, experimental biomechanics and computational biomechanics, which emphasis the multidisciplinarity of this area. The organizers of CNB2013 would like to take this opportunity to thank to all the Sponsors, to all members of the Scientific Committee, to all Authors and Participants for submitting and sharing their work.
