Abstract (EN): We prepared bulk ceramics and thin films in the La1-xCaxMnO3 system. The ceramics (x=0.25, 0.33) were prepared by standard techniques with a final sintering at 1300°C. The thin films were prepared on MgO (100) substrates by excimer laser ablation, using the bulk material as a target, and by aerosol-assisted MOCVD. In both methods a substrate temperature of 630°C was necessary to promote epitaxial growth. The bulk materials and the thin films presented a ferromagnetic phase transition, associated with a maximum of resistance as a function of temperature. For x=0.25 we obtained maximum magnetoresistances of 65% (T=240 K) and 45% (T=210K) at 9 kOe for the bulk and laser ablated thin film respectively. © 1997 Trans Tech Publications.
