Resumo (PT):
Analisa-se a sintaxe das orações relativas apositivas e defende-se que tais orações são um caso particular de aposição, distinto da coordenação e da subordinação, gerado por inserção tardia.
Abstract (EN):
Relative non-restrictive clauses are here analysed as a case of aposition, here conceived as a late insertion adjunction. The text analyses the non restrictive relative clauses with nominal antecedent in European Portuguese within the discussion about clause connexion.
After establishing the links between non restrictive relative clauses, subordination, coordination and juxtaposition, it is shown that this type of relatives is an instance of subordination, which is not incompatible with their parenthetical apposition nature.
In the second part, after having discussed some syntactic analyses suggested in the bibliography, a description is proposed in which the fundamental properties of non restritive relative clauses are analysed as an adjunction to dp, by late insertion in the derivation.
