Abstract (EN): This chapter presents a technological solution adopted within the scope of a comprehensive project, PLowDeR ¿ Framework for Analysis of the Economic and Social Impact of Tourist Activities in Low Density Territories: the Case of Historical Villages of Portugal. The main objective of the project is to develop and implement a digital platform which supports the operationalization of a set of indicators organized within a theoretical framework, aimed at evaluating the impact of tourist activities in low-density territories, such as Aldeias Históricas de Portugal (AHP). Design science was the research methodology adopted to conduct this work. The chapter describes the conceptualization of the digital platform which supports project PLowDeR, as well as some aspects of its prototyping. About the prototype, some functional and conceptual aspects are mentioned in order to effectively achieve the main project objectives. Furthermore, some physical and technical details are also given regarding the development of the support database. The importance of this work is mainly related to the innovative character of the purpose of the PLowDeR project, and is intensified with the digital transformation provided by the technological development of the platform described in this chapter. © 2021, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
