Abstract (EN): Within the Industry 4.0 paradigm, many industries have converted their conventional factories to smart factories, such as Smart Warehouses. The automotive industry is a good example of the use of these new technologies. This work use as a case study a pick-to-light system for the kitting task dedicated to an automotive assembly line. The proposed system focuses on an indoor localization method based on Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) Fingerprint. It opens a new way to locate devices that are placed at a distance of centimeters, preventing errors above a certain threshold, which implies that the localization system must be very rigorous and precise, so as not to be a source of error during the kitting task. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.
