Abstract (EN): Providing a totally aseptic surgical environment in screw bone fixation surgery, especially in the oral cavity for dental implants, is practically impossible to achieve. The innovative Bioactive Kinetic Screw (BKS) presents characteristics that guarantee shorter exposure to the external environment of the drilled bone tissue by the immediate screwing of the BKS concomitantly with the bone perforation. By avoiding pre-drilling of the bone and using an implant that has the properties of a modified drill, we avoid the exposure of deep bone tissue that normally occurs with multiple pre-drilling. The shorter exposure time of the bone with a single drilling and simultaneous screw insertion reduces the risk of external contamination. In addition to preserving a greater amount of bone at the implant site, the proposed technique uses less material and intermediate drills. This work aims to demonstrate the advantage obtained with the new Drill-and-Seal Technique originated from the BKS innovative design. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.
