Abstract (EN):
The coupling of nonlinear adsorption and chemical reaction determines the behavior of chromatographic reactors but it should also be considered when getting equilibrium and kinetic parameters from chromatographic experiments. We analytically derive, using the method of characteristics, the fixed bed response to step, pulse and Dirac inputs in the case of zero order reactions (expressed in terms of mobile phase concentrations) coupled with Langmuir adsorption of reactant A or both reactant and product. This allows us to predict the influence of the amount and of the concentration injected (pulse or Dirac inputs) over the fixed bed behavior.
