Abstract (EN): Yarn quality analysis is an issue that textile companies try to solve in a fast and automatic way. Nowadays, yarn quality analysis machines are available in the market, but those are not adequate for large-scale use due to their low versatility and huge dimensions. This paper presents the development of an automatic unwinding and winding system to verify yarn quality through image processing. The developed equipment can accurately move the yarn in front of the camera lens while keeping vibrations at an acceptable range. It supports different types of yarn and bobbins. Through an intuitive local HMI, users can control yarn quantity and velocity, monitoring and storage data in real-time, assuring user safety and system's security. The developed equipment provides a better performance and portability, and together with the application of image analysis, it permits the analysis of more parameters when compared to other commercial alternatives.
