Resumo (PT): A fractographic study on the mode I fracture and fatigue damage ot a CSM (chopped strand mat) E glass reinforced polyester resin composite is presented. The effects ot environmental exposure and cyclic stress upon the fracture surface morphology were examined by scanning electron microscopy. The fracture surfaces d1splay two distinct regions, related to the stable and unstable damage growth. In the fatigue specimens, the areas close to the initial notch tip exhibit quite different textures accordingly to the test variables.
