Resumo (PT): O presente trabalho descreve um estudo experimental levado a cabo num equipamento de corte direto de grandes dimensões com o objetivo de avaliar a influência do tipo de solo na resistência ao corte de interfaces solo-geossintético. Nos ensaios de corte direto foram utilizados dois solos de características distintas: uma areia seca, mal graduada, de classificação SP segundo a Classificação Unificada de Solos e um saibro coesivo bem graduado, de classificação SW-SM (areia bem graduada com silte e cascalho), também no estado seco. Para além do tipo de solo foram analisados outros parâmetros que influenciam a resistência ao corte das interfaces, nomeadamente o índice de compacidade do solo e o tipo de geossintético. Para tal, foram adotados dois índices de compacidade para os solos e utilizados dois tipos de geossintéticos: um geocompósito de reforço uniaxial e um geotêxtil não tecido em polipropileno.
Abstract (EN): This paper describes an experimental study that was conducted in a large scale direct shear apparatus in order to evaluate the influence of soil type on soil-geosynthetic interfaces shear strength. For the direct shear tests, two soils of different characteristics were used: a dry and poorly graded sand, classified as SP according to the Unified Soil Classification System and a cohesive well graded residual soil from granite, classified as SW-SM (well graded sand with silt and gravel), also in the dry state. In addition to soil type, other parameters that influence the interfaces shear strength were analysed, namely soil relative density and type of geosynthetic. With this purpose, two values of soil relative density were adopted and two types of geosynthetics were used: a uniaxial geocomposite for reinforcement and a nonwoven geotextile made of polypropylene.
