Abstract (EN):
To appraise the efficiency of the new strengthening technique by external bond of unidirectional CFRP systems, an experimental strengthening of a limited region of the top slab of N. S. da Guia bridge deck was proposed and performed. Four different CFRP systems were applied and instrumented with several strain gauges. Several field load tests were carried out using five discrete point loads to simulate the vehicle live load specified by Portuguese Code. The load tests were previously simulated in laboratory. With the present work, the authors, expects to contribute to clarify the knowledge of serviceability behaviour of this new strengthening technique, namely, when applied in the rehabilitation of reinforced or prestressed concrete bridges.
The present work refers to the influence of temperature on the behaviour of reinforced concrete structures strengthened with CFRP systems. The effect of temperature was first analysed through a structural health monitoring program carried out in an experimental strengthening of a limited region of the top slab of N. S. da Guia bridge deck. A laboratorial experimental program will be presented in order to study the influence of temperature and moisture on the concrete-adhesive-CFRP interface behaviour and their effects on the bond resistance. With this work, the authors appraised the efficiency of the applied CFRP systems in terms of the environmental exposure and concluded about the response of the two different CFRP systems (sheet and laminate).
