Abstract (EN):
Non-allergic rhinitis is an inf lammatory disorder of the nasal mucosa characterized by the absence of signs of sensitization to inhalant allergens. It includes different subphenotypes, such as vasomotor rhinitis (the most frequent), senile rhinitis, drug-induced rhinitis, gustatory rhinitis, hormonal rhinitis, and atrophic rhinitis. Its pathophysiology is heterogeneous and, despite being a frequent entity, the lack of specif ic complementary diagnostic tests makes its diagnosis diff icult. Its treatment is based on the predominant symptomatology. The aim of this article is to gather current scientif ic evidence on non-allergic rhinitis, in what concerns its phenotypes, pathophysiology, diagnosis and appropriate management, using clinical vignettes as a starting point. © 2022 Sociedade Portuguesa de Alergologia e Imunologia Clínica.
