Abstract (EN): we present the considered system scenario to be optimized, a broadband access fixed system, based on DVB-S2 on the forward link in particular including adaptive coding and modulation and DVB-RCS on the return link considering adaptive coding. Then we present successively the needs and benefits of cross-layer techniques, for layers between the physical and the IP layers and for the transport layer
