Abstract (EN): The potential of comparing results through the cross analysis of two metropolitan areas Greater Copenhagen and Greater Oporto were fulfilled with important lessons learned from the simultaneous application of two methods namely Structural Accessibility Layer (SAL) and Explanatory Qualitative-Quantitative Method (EQQM). This chapter summarizes the main findings from the cross analysis of the two case studies by each method, as well as the general conclusions and recommendations. The application of the EQQM method allowed the study of particular relationships between urban structure and travel behaviour. SAL allows the study of the relationships between urban structure and potential mobility. More specifically, the method provides a geographical representation of how urban structure, namely the spatial distribution of activities and transport, constrains travel choices and mode choice. The comparison of results from both case studies shows a consistent influence of potential mobility on real mobility. © Paulo Pinho, Cecília Silva and the Contributors 2015.
