Abstract (EN):
The results of a numerical study on the influence of some design parameters on the horizontal deformations and reinforcement tensile loads distribution of reinforced soil retaining walls with continuous facing panel are presented. The design parameters in this study include the restraining condition at the toe of the facing panel, the wall construction method and the wall height.
The two-dimensional explicit dynamic finite difference program FLAC (Fast Lagrangian Analysis of Continua) was used. A preliminary analysis was made to confirm that FLAC gives similar results to those reported in the literature using finite elements methods.
The study shows that the restraining condition at the toe of facing panel has great influence on the reinforcement tensile loads. The wall construction method influences the horizontal deformation of the wall and the reinforcement loads. The wall height has some influence on the horizontal deformation pattern and on the maximum reinforcement loads.
