Abstract (EN):
Mini-Abstract We report a case of a 65-year-old woman with chronic primary mitral regurgitation diagnosed 10 years prior to our evaluation. We performed a 3D transesophageal echocardiography that showed an isolated cleft within the P2 segment of the posterior leaflet associated with severe mitral regurgitation. This is a rare congenital cause of mitral regurgitation, and it may occur in isolation or with associated congenital heart defects. The slitlike appearance of the leaflet can be difficult to assess by 2DTTE or even TEE. Real time 3DTEE provides superior diagnostic accuracy in the identification of scallop-specific anatomy.
