Abstract (EN):
his paper presents Remote Maintenance Management (RMM) as an instrument to enable Portuguese equipment manufacturer companies to overcome international competitive weaknesses. The main issues in the national context of maintenance management are presented. General requirements for RMM systems are described, focusing on both functional and non-functional requirements. An approach to the design and implementation of RMM systems making use of state-of-the-art architectures and technologies is outlined. The paper concludes with the description of an industrial research project aiming at developing a RMM system according to the general requirements identified before.
