Resumo (PT): ES: Lusitania, la provincia romana reorganizada en la época de Augusto, abarcaba una amplia extensión de territorio en la Península Ibérica. A pesar del derrumbe de las estructuras políticas y administrativas del Imperio Romano en la segunda mitad del siglo V d. C. mantuvo características que continuaron a permitir identificarla como heredera de la romanitas. Por otro lado, fue dominada por otros poderes, nuevas élites y respectivas estrategias de afirmación: y de hecho en el siglo VI ya estaba integrada en el reino visigodo formado mientras tanto. Como trasfondo, el cristianismo: no unívoco, sino que compuesto por varias voces y, en consecuencia, materializado de diferentes maneras. La arqueología funeraria centrada en estos siglos revela una multitud de opciones que desafían la interpretación. Contextos de enterramiento donde los difuntos aparecen despojados de materiales, “coexisten” con deposiciones asociadas a múltiples tipos de artefactos. Y si algunos de los ellos están destinados al adorno de los cuerpos, lo que supuestamente recuerda las costumbres paganas, otros están imbuidos de una inconfundible dimensión cristológica. A través de la observación de diferentes espacios funerarios de Lusitania con tumbas atribuidas a los siglos V-VI, proponemos analizar los materiales metálicos canalizados hacia las tumbas y cuestionar el significado inherente a su presencia, subrayando las contradicciones o simbiosis que ilustran.

Abstract (EN): Lusitania, the Roman province reorganized in the time of Augustus, covered a wide area of territory in the Iberian Peninsula. Despite the collapse of the political and administrative structures of the Roman Empire in the second half of the fifth century A.D., Lusitania maintained a set of characteristics that continued to enable its identification as heiress of romanitas. On the other hand, it became dominated by other powers, by new elites and their affirmation strategies: and in fact, in the sixth century, it was already integrated in the Visigothic kingdom formed in the meantime. In the background, Christianity: not univocal, but composed of several voices and, consequently, materialized in different ways. Funeral archaeology focused on these centuries reveals a multitude of options that challenge interpretation. Burial contexts where the deceased appear stripped of materials “coexist” with depositions associated with multiple types of artefacts. And if some of them are destined for the adornment of the bodies, what supposedly recalls pagan traditions others are imbued with a distinctive Christological dimension. Through the observation of different of Lusitania´s different funerary spaces with tombs attributed to the V-VI centuries, we propose to analyse the metallic materials channelled towards the tombs and to question the meaning inherent to their presence, underlining the contradictions or symbiosis they illustrate.
