Abstract (EN): In the present paper we present the first results of work whose main goal is to understand the details of the process of high-order mode excitation in roAp stars. Motivated by the work by Balmforth et ai. (1999, 2000), according to which convection might be suppressed in the polar regions of roAp stars, we show that in a radiative region the excitation of high-order pulsations takes place in the region of hydrogen ionization, and is the direct consequence of the abrupt change in the opacity derivative kappa (T) = (partial derivative ln kappa/partial derivative In T)(rho) in these layers.
