Abstract (EN):
Preceded by years of scientific discoveries and summaries, Plate Tectonics has only
established itself as a true theory 40 years ago, leading to a recasting and clarification of geological
processes and concepts that were never fully explained until then.. This article consists of a case study
approach focused on this theory in secondary school textbooks from the 1960s until today, its
relationship with the social and political context and educational perspectives of each season, factors
which influence in science education is undeniable
