Abstract (EN): Research related to Imaging has been, is and will continue to be a source of a tremendous amount work as the number of image-based applications is vast, and is growing. Examples include: image codification, enhancement and retrieval; image and video coding and transmission; image registration and warping; object recognition; shape reconstruction; medical diagnosis; computer vision and tracking; and motion analysis. However, for fruitful image-based solutions, enhancer hardware resources and computational algorithms, which are in continual demanded, must have their outputs evaluated by expertise users and on real environments. In order to continue disseminating the current state-of-the-art in the interdisciplinary fields related to Imaging, we are pleased to present this issue of the International Journal of Imaging (IJI), which includes: new theories, innovative experimental techniques, original formulations and fresh computational methods. This Autumn issue, Vol. 3 N°A10 of IJI includes eight papers from six countries (India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Portugal and USA) covering: analysis of the wake structure in flow past finite cylinders from images; blind image source separation; color image coding; electrical conductance imaging; human perception; identification of drops in images; image restoration and segmentation of skin cancer images. This variety expresses the accentuated interest by the international scientific community in IJI and its multidisciplinary approach. Once again, we would like to express our thanks to all the authors, editors and reviewers that have made coordinated efforts to achieve and maintain the high standards of IJI and to satisfy the expectations of the scientific community. To finalize, we would like to emphasize to our readers that the main aim of IJI is to build and maintain a comprehensive forum for discussion on Imaging and related topics between physicians, mathematicians, engineers, clinicians, hardware providers and other related experts and professionals. Furthermore, we would like to renew our request for new contributions to improve and disseminate the state-of-the-art knowledge related to IJI topics.
