Abstract (EN):
This paper shows the development of a wheel-rail contact model pre-processor for running safety evaluation of trains moving over bridges subjected to earthquakes. A contact point search methodology is presented and validated with results from commercial software. The algorithm is prepared, not only for two dimensional, but also for three dimensional situations, where the wheelset yaw angle can have a significant influence in the position of the contact point. This research also includes the implementation and validation of two algorithms for computing the contact forces: FASTSIM and USETAB. © Civil-Comp Press, 2012
