Abstract (EN): This study aimed to verify how is the perception of 36 graduate students in courses of Geosciences about the applicability of Geology in society, particularly through its power to influence decisions of political, economic and social nature. To this end a questionnaire with direct questions and dilemmas from the field of Geoethics was applied to evaluate the position of the respondents, mainly through the recognition of the applicability of geological models. The results showed a certain uncritical view of the applicability of these models in real situations and the need for a better perception of the characteristics of geological knowledge, to a more effective understanding of the potential and limits of this knowledge in those decisions. © 2014 LNEG - Laboratório Nacional de Geologia e Energia IP.
