Abstract (EN):
The incidence of twin pregnancies is increasing worldwide, with a significant impact on health care, since twin pregnancies are associated with a greater incidence of adverse perinatal outcome. It is chorionicity, rather than zygosity, the determinant factor in terms of perinatal prognosis. The establishment of chorionicity is feasible by ultrasound in the first trimester of pregnancy, preferentially between 11-14 weeks. ©ArquiMed, 2004.
